Bachelor Degree in Engineering

What will I learn while earning a bachelor degree in engineering?

A bachelor degree in engineering is a broad degree that allows a lot of room for specialization in one area or another. According to the Bureau of Labor and Statistics, most engineers specialize in one area, or several, rather than remaining neutral. Some of the areas you may wish to investigate further include civil engineering, chemical engineering, electrical, environmental, mechanical, industrial or nuclear, among others. Each of these specialty areas, as well as the broader engineering degree, require a solid foundation of both math and science for solving technical problems in a safe and economically-sound way.

What types of careers can it help prepare me for?

According to Civil Engineering News, the field of engineering is expected to make a shift in practice, implementation and design over the next few years as many firms and plants look for new ways to use technology more effectively, especially as the demand for new structures, technologies and other findings help boost the industry forward. Some of the jobs you will be able to choose from with a bachelor degree in engineering include naval architecture, computer design and building, researching water and air pollution control and other environmental issues, manufacturing products and services, aircraft and missile testing and design and equipment and machine design of virtually every type.

The Bureau of Labor and Statistics has noted that, in order to have a chance at being hired for an engineering job of any type, you must have a bachelor degree, such as an engineering degree. It is also expected within the industry that you will work on continuing your education in order to remain on top of the most current information in your chosen industry.
